Pokhara, Nepal – February 20, Department of Social Work and Psychology at Golden Gate International College recently concluded a highly impactful social work camp in Pokhara, held from February 20 th to 23rd. The four-day camp was designed to provide students with invaluable practical experience and meaningful connections with the Jalari community of Pokhara.
The program featured a crucial learning opportunity through a student interaction with Lake City College and Research Center, the only social work college in Gandaki Province, where students exchanged perspectives and knowledge on social work challenges and practices.
To deepen their understanding of tourism safety and security, the students participated in an informative session conducted by the Tourist Police Kaski Pokhara. This session provided insights into the role of the police in ensuring the safety of tourists and the local community, highlighting the importance of community policing and awareness. The session was facilitated by Himala Shrestha ,Assistant Sub Inspector, Tourist Police Pokhara.
Furthermore, the students engaged in a comprehensive survey within the Jalari Community in Pame Area. This hands-on experience allowed them to gather firsthand data on the community’s needs and challenges. The survey results are expected to provide valuable insights for students learning.

The successful completion of the social work camp underscores Golden Gate International College’s commitment to providing its socia work and psychology students with comprehensive and practical training, preparing them to become effective and compassionate social work professionals.
