Charikot, Dolakha – Golden Gate International College,Kathmandu recently concluded a successful four-day social work camp in Charikot, Dolakha, leaving a positive mark on the local community. The camp, held from 28th Magh to 1st Falgun, saw enthusiastic participation from students engaging in a variety of socially impactful activities.

The students embarked on a comprehensive survey of prevalent social issues within the region, gaining firsthand insight into the challenges faced by local residents. This data collection was followed by an interactive program with the District Coordination Committee of Dolakha, fostering a valuable exchange of ideas and perspectives.

Further engagement with local governance occurred through a productive discussion program with the Deputy Mayor of Bhimeshwor Municipality, allowing students to understand the municipality’s efforts and contribute their observations.

In addition to community outreach, the students also dedicated time to engaging in school activities with mental health awareness,and climate change programs interacting with local students and potentially providing educational support. The camp also included a visit to local religious sites, providing cultural and indigenous context to the social work being performed.

The social work camp aimed to provide students with practical experience, and to also provide positive impacts to the Charikot Dolakha community. The camp was considered a success by the college, and by the local people who interacted with the students.
